National History

Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc was founded on December 1, 1975 by 17 collegiate women at Kean University in New Jersey. In the light of civil justices being pushed to equal the opportunities for people of color, these 17 women of different backgrounds, came together to try to give Latina women a safe space to do so. They formed what is now the first and largest Latin Sorority in the nation and continue to uphold the same principles of unity, love, and respect . We now have over 160 undergraduate and alumnae chapters with sisters that represent over 109 different cultural backgrounds.

Chapter History

Gamma Psi Chapter of Lambda Theta Alpha was founded on January 30, 2005 by fourteen lovely ladies. These ladies had been interested in bringing the First and Largest Latina based sorority in the nation to San Diego State University 3 years before they were able to start a chapter. Their hard work and dedication they put forth to create their chapter inspired the sisters after them to work to maintain and grow our chapter. Our chapter continues to flourish 14 years later with the crossing of line 14 in Fall of 2018.
